Frequently Asked Questions
Who can get reflexology?
Just about anyone can have foot reflexology, as long as you are not suffering from any of the contraindications listed in the previous section. My reflexology clients have ranged in age from eight to ninety-six, and have included pregnant women and people with diabetes, cancer and AIDS. I have never yet met a client who was unable to enjoy reflexology!
Do you really massage my feet for an entire hour?
Yes! I do a very detailed 60-minute massage on the feet and lower legs. This may sound like a long time, but believe me, it will be the shortest hour you’ve ever experienced! In fact, most of my clients fall asleep within the first 15 minutes.
What are your qualifications as a Reflexologist?
I have earned a 220-hour certification in reflexology at the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage Therapy, and I have been a practicing reflexologist for eight years. (The average massage therapist receives less than 20 hours of reflexology training in a 700-hour massage program.)
Does reflexology hurt?
Absolutely not! A proper reflexology treatment should NEVER cause pain. The idea that reflexology must hurt to be effective is a myth. Recent studies have shown that overly deep, painful massage on the feet can cause bruising, tissue damage, and even nerve damage, and has no therapeutic value. I use a firm pressure that neither hurts nor tickles, and which gives the muscles of the feet and legs a deeply soothing and relaxing massage.
Is reflexology like a pedicure?
No. It is simply an intensely relaxing and luxurious massage. There is no soaking, scrubbing, filing or nail-clipping involved.
Can you diagnose illness or problems in my body with reflexology?
Absolutely not. Like any other form of massage, reflexology is not used to diagnose or treat any medical problems or conditions. It can help facilitate the body’s natural healing processes by relaxing the mind and body. However, it is not a medical treatment or cure for any ailments.
I'm a paragraph. Click oncIs reflexology some kind of psychic reading?
Not at all. It is a deeply relaxing massage, and nothing more. I do not use reflexology to make observations of any kind about your mental or physical health, or any other aspect of your life. I do not provide any sort of “chart” of your feet, or give any advice other than recommendations on proper foot care. My only goal for my clients is total relaxation.e to begin entering your own content. You can change my font, size, line height, color and more by highlighting part of me and selecting the options from the toolbar.
How should I dress for the session?
You should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Since the massage is done only on the calves and feet, you can either wear loose pants or shorts, or remove your pants. You will be covered with a sheet and blanket during the session, so you can wear whatever makes you most comfortable.
